The word yoga means "to yoke" - referring to the union of mind and body. Breath is used as a bridge to connect the two and internal awareness is fostered in order move mindfully towards balance in one's body, emotions, mind, and spirit.
In Hatha Yoga, a deliberate series of exercises are performed in order to increase range of motion, improve strength, lubricate joints, massage and detoxify the internal organs & glands, and clear the energy channels of the body. Additionally, structural imbalances can be corrected and excess weight can be managed.
