Historical records indicate that the concepts and principles of meditation have been utilized since the beginning of mankind’s existence. Originally, the methods and processes of meditation were intertwined with various cultural, ethnic, religious, or other ritualistic beliefs and were sometimes controlled by the political or religious elite. For many cultures, the practice of meditation is an integral part of daily living and considered a fundamental factor in achieving overall wellness and wholeness. Our Western culture has only displayed a passing interest in the benefits of meditative practices. Western research and allopathic medicine have validated, via scientific study and empirical analysis, the benefits of regular meditative practice. ANYONE can learn to meditate and achieve healthful benefits.
The practice of meditation takes only minutes a day. Once learned, self practice does not cost anything and it can be performed virtually anywhere. For some people the practice of meditation is transformative.
